Centrifugal Metallic Pumps
Filter Press Pumps
These machines are used to filter suspensions under high-pressure conditions, effectively separating liquids from solids.
They consist of a set of chamber plates covered with filter cloths, which filter the liquid and retain the solid particles. The process involves pressurizing the sludge using a feed pump and compressing the chamber plates to achieve efficient separation.
Properties & Advantages
- Also known as dynamic sealing arrangements
- No seal water required
- Capable of handling 50–60% slurry and solids with minimal leakage compared to conventional gland-packed pumps
- Reduces expensive product loss due to significantly less leakage
- Equipped with specialized non-asbestos gland packing or Grafoil packing for high-temperature applications; can also accommodate a single mechanical seal
- Maintenance-free operation as no slurry mechanical seals are used
- Suitable for operation at 1440 RPM and 2900 RPM
- Rotating parts available in CD4MCu material for handling abrasive slurries
Applications
- Acidic slurries
- Effluent waste treatment
- Pigment manufacturing
- Mining operations
- Urban and industrial sludge dewatering
- Various chemical and pharmaceutical applications
